If you struggle hitting the ball the other way, one of the main causes is wanting to move away from the part of the zone the ball is pitched, ie. the outer half. If this is you, try this drill:
1. Close yourself off INTENTIONALLY with your lower half so your front foot is moving to the outer half.
2. Think about your entire body moving on plane with the direction you’ve just created, from plant to follow-through.
Now that we’ve over-exaggerated our feel to the backside, it should feel more normal for you to want to work that way with a pitch outside!
